All of a sudden, it seems, hatred of Jews seems all the rage again.

Frequently, this antisemitism is cloaked with appeals to Scripture itself. Indeed, many scholars opposed to antisemitism seem quite ready to concede that the New Testament is, well … anti-Jewish.

Beloved Enemies does not shirk the hard questions. Examining the ostensibly “anti-Jewish” passages in the New Testament head on, Tim Gallant sets these texts within their own context in the ministry of the Messiah and of first century history. Far from being dismissive of the texts critical of Jews and Judaism, Beloved Enemies shows that the New Testament thunder against Jews is working in familiar prophetic territory.

That territory, this book demonstrates, represents both an emphatic critique from within — and an embrace of a glorious hope.
